The idea behind the work came from my interest in piñatas (their relevance and inevitable westernization) and the overwhelming police presence in Mexico City. I decided to disguise myself as a policewoman and use a piñata, a very obvious contrast to the severe uniform, as my weapon. I walked around various parts of the city and my video became a playful, diaristic way of examining ‘authority’, almost taunting them to see what comes out of it-whether and how they react, comment, etc.
